Ceramic kitchen sinks are by far the most robust and easily maintained sink for the kitchen area, but a certain amount of care is required not to chip or crack the ceramic sink when filling them with heavy pots and pans, or indeed breaking the crockery. For most people this is not a problem as ceramic sinks are defiantly made to last. Due to the nature of the product, all Ceramic items can in size vary by +/- 2%. We therefore can only give a guide to the overall size not exact measurements.
No two sinks will ever be quite the same and they will all have their own minute 'quirks'. These are not faults, they are indicative of man-made ceramics and can add to their appeal. Ceramic sinks wipe down easily, contrast excellently to all colours and finishes of fittings and give a real focal point in the kitchen. We are sure you will find the right sinks for you.

Kitchen Taps
All kitchen taps must carry hot and cold water separately, since drinking quality cold water must come from the rising main. The hot water, on the other hand, will usually come from the same hot water cylinder that supplies all the other hot taps in the property.
Most mixer taps are dual flow and isolate the supplies of hot and cold water, mixing them only when they emerge from the spout. Those that combine the water supplies within the mixer arm (called single flow) must be fitted with a non return valve) at each inlet to keep water flowing in a single direction and prevent cross-contamination between supplies.
There are several types of valve components currently in use;
A mechanical valve is the traditional type, using rubber washers to create the seal. They have the disadvantage of being prone to wearing over time, but taps with these valves will be cheapest to buy and rubber washers are easily replaced.
Ceramic disc valves use ceramic washers to produce a watertight seal which requires low maintenance and is operated and controlled in a just a quarter turn.
A ceramic disc cartridge is found in single lever mixer taps, using low maintenance ceramic discs that are arranged such that water temperature and flow can easily be controlled with one hand.
If you are unsure about what type of kitchen tap to choose, please feel free to call and we will try and answer any questions you may have.
At sinks and taps we take pride in offering advise about all the products we sell, we will only sell top brand products with a proven record for for customer care.
